7-Eleven Japan Releases New Creamy Iced Cafe Latte Featuring Hokkaido Extra Rich Milk

7-Eleven Japan has quietly rolled out a new Creamy Iced Cafe Latte, a richer take on its standard iced latte that leans heavily into the chain’s signature dairy.
The drink is only available at select “Seven Cafe” locations – stores equipped with the branded beverage machines that dispense freshly ground coffee, tea and smoothies. Customers can spot the offering if pressing the “cafe latte” button brings up an additional “creamy” option on the screen.
What defines this new latte is the proportion of the chain’s “Extra Rich Milk.” The milk itself is a blend of milk, skimmed condensed milk and cream sourced from Hokkaido, Japan’s premier dairy region. Designed to deliver a fuller flavor and aroma than regular milk, it is balanced to offer a gentle, natural milk sweetness while keeping a clean, refreshing aftertaste.
In the creamy version, the coffee-to-milk ratio swings dramatically toward the dairy, appearing to be roughly 2:8 – far more milk than a standard serving. The result is an incredibly full-bodied cup where the sweetness comes entirely from the milk, with a hidden bitter coffee kick providing a pleasant contrast. The aftertaste lingers with more satisfaction.
The extreme creaminess will not appeal to all palates, particularly espresso drinkers who favor stronger, more assertive coffee. But for those who appreciate the role milk plays in a cup of coffee and enjoy a frothy, layered look, the drink is likely to become a go-to order.
7-Eleven first installed in-store coffee machines in 2013, establishing itself in Japan as a coffee destination under the “Seven Cafe” brand, later adding freshly brewed tea and smoothies. The company is the world’s largest convenience store chain, operating approximately 85,000 stores across 20 countries. Founded in 1927 in Dallas, Texas as the Southland Ice Company, the chain adopted the name "7-Eleven" in 1946 to reflect its then-groundbreaking operating hours of 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Today, it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Seven-Eleven Japan, which is controlled by the Japanese retail giant Seven & i Holdings.
