Don Francisco’s Coffee®, the flagship premium brand of the family-owned Gaviña Coffee Company and a California roaster has unveiled two distinctive new roasts, Daybreak Blend and Moonlight Roast, alongside a significant brand-wide packaging refresh designed to modernize its shelf presence while honoring its nearly 60-year heritage.
Inspired by the natural rhythm and energy of the California day, the new blends aim to capture the spectrum of consumers' daily routines. Daybreak Blend is a medium-dark roast crafted from 100% Arabica beans sourced from Central and South America and East Africa. It offers a vibrant aroma with bright, fruit-forward notes for an energizing cup.
On the opposite end of the spectrum sits Moonlight Roast, the boldest offering in the company's history. This extra-dark roast, part of the Family Reserve line, delivers an intense, smoky aroma and a deep, full-bodied profile made from 100% Arabica beans from Central and South America.
Founded in Vernon, California in 1967, Gaviña Coffee Company remains the nation’s largest privately held minority-owned coffee roaster. The family’s experience in coffee, from growing to roasting, dates back over 150 years to their origins in Cuba.

“For generations, our coffee has been part of people’s daily routines, and today those routines look different for everyone,” said Lisette Gaviña Lopez, a fourth-generation coffee roaster at Gaviña Coffee Company. “With Daybreak and Moonlight, we’re offering blends that reflect that range, giving people the flexibility to choose what fits their moment, whether they’re in the mood for something bright and vibrant or rich and bold.”
Alongside the new roasts, Don Francisco’s is rolling out the first major evolution of its packaging in years. The updated design features a bold diagonal layout and a refined tile pattern that nods to the company’s Los Angeles heritage. A streamlined color-coding system has also been introduced, allowing consumers to easily navigate roast levels and flavor profiles at a glance.
“For nearly 60 years, our family has been roasting coffee in Los Angeles with an unwavering commitment to quality,” added Gaviña Lopez. “This next chapter builds on that foundation, with an updated look and new blends that reflect how people enjoy coffee today.”
Don Francisco’s Daybreak Blend and Moonlight Roast began rolling out this month, with expanded retail distribution continuing through spring 2026. Both blends are available in multiple formats, including ground coffee bags, whole bean, and single-serve pods compatible with Keurig® brewers. Consumers can find the new coffees at donfranciscos.com, Amazon, and select grocery retailers nationwide.
