Canadian Top Coffee Retailer , Tim Hortons Plans its First Drive-thru in North Wales

Tim Hortons Inc. is a Canadian multinational fast food restaurant chain. Based in Toronto, It is Canada's largest quick-service restaurant chain, with 4,846 restaurants in 14. Now the company finalized the first phase to open the fist ever drive-thru café in North Wales.
For the last four years since 2017, Tim Hortons has been actively expanding in the U.K. without any setback by Covid 19.
The company secured an area which was oncea car phone warehouse store on Broughton Shopping Park.The planning officers at Flintshire council have approved the application for go ahead with the plan. This will be its first drive-thru in Wales - its only Welsh cafe so far is in Cardiff. The move would be a boost to the Flintshire retail park which has lost its Outfit and Car phone Warehouse stores due to the pandemic.

A planning statement submitted to Flintshire council said: "Tim Horton’s is an iconic Canadian coffee shop brand, best known for coffee and doughnuts. In 2017, Tim Horton’s began opening stores in the UK in locations such as Cardiff, Glasgow and London. The Tim Horton’s franchise is currently being rolled out across the UK, with the proposed Broughton operation forming the first drive-thru unit in Wales. In terms of direct employment, each drive-thru store typically provides up to 40-50 jobs, offering roles such as managers, baristas, maintenance operatives and cleaners. Indirect job opportunities will also arise during the construction / fit-out stage and in terms of servicing the unit."


On August 26, 2014, Burger King agreed to purchase Tim Hortons for US$11.4 billion. The chain became a subsidiary of the Canadian holding company Restaurant Brands International, which is majority-owned by Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital, on December 15, 2014.
