Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng will be present at the second edition of the Singapore Speciality Coffee (Micro-Lot) Auction 2021, which has now been rescheduled to 13 July at the Marina Bay Sands. Originally slated to take place on 3 June, the auction was postponed in view of the Singapore Government’s tightening of public safety measures in May following a rise in the number of COVID-19 community cases.
“As our attendees’ safety is of utmost priority, the Singapore Coffee Association (SCA) decided to push back the auction to a later date to allow the increased COVID-19 cases to stabilise,” said Mr Victor Mah, president of the SCA.

“We have also decided to lower the in-person attendance to 100 people which will allow us to better manage the social distancing measures effectively. It is a pity that we could not have more people onsite, however bidders are always welcome to join us virtually and bid for their desired coffee on that day.”
In tandem with the auction, SCA will also be co-hosting with the Colombia Embassy in Singapore the inaugural Singapore Coffee Industry Ministerial and Ambassadors Luncheon which will take place before the opening of the auction. Attended by Singapore’s Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr Tan See Leng, who is also the Manpower Minister, the luncheon will be attended by 21 ambassadors and high commissioners together. Joining this high-powered luncheon will be senior members of various Singapore ministries and coffee industry business leaders.
This will be followed by the main event of the day – the auction of 59 carefully selected lots of speciality coffee from 15 countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, Mexico, Ethiopia, Ecuador, and Peru, together with speciality coffee from Asia represented by China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
Said Mr Steven Tan, SCA executive director: “We are excited to see so much diversity in this year’s selection. This is first time that we have close to 60 different types of coffee on auction. The selection was not easy, and I must thank our five accredited graders for their dedication and making sure that the lots were picked with the most stringent of processes.”
