Louis Dreyfus Co. Signs JV with Instanta
Vietnam Ltd to build instant coffee plant

Louis Dreyfus Company headquartered
in Rotterdam, Netherlands entered into a joint venture agreement with
Instanta Vietnam Co Ltd to build a plant for instant coffee. Vietnam is the
world’s second top exporter of coffee with production segment of entirely
Robusta beans. The plant is planned to be built in Binh Duong province.
Louis Dreyfus controls 10% of the world's agricultural product
trade, and the largest cotton and rice trader in the world. The company is
also the world’s second top trader of sugar in volume. The construction for the
instant coffee plant is expected to be started in early 2022.
“This venture complements Louis Dreyfus Company’s strong existing
Vietnamese footprint and global Robusta green coffee business, enlarging our
coffee product offer to customers to address growing instant coffee demand,”
said Julien Terrisse, the company’s Head of Instant Coffee.
Louis Dreyfus Company was founded in the Alsace, France by the
18-year-old Alsatian Ashkenazi, Jewish son of a farmer, under
the name of his father, Louis Dreyfus in 1851. He created an immense wealth
through cross border cereal trading. Then he diversified across
shipping, weapons manufacturing, agriculture, oil and banking.
Today Louis Dreyfus companies are present in more than 100 countries, with
72 offices. Major offices are located in Geneva, London, Beijing, Buenos Aires,
Sao Paulo, Singapore, and New York. The company employs more than 22,000 people
globally with total average annual gross sales in recent years have exceeded
US$120 billion.
Speaking of the new working aragement in Vietnam, Thomas
Couteaudier, LDC’s Chief Strategy Officer said, “Working with partners with

more of the value chain and meet our customers’needs,”
Instanta Vietnam Co is an important player in
instant coffee private label brand productions with popular brands such as Bon Aroma / Bon Cafe exporting
to more than 60.
