Devoción Coffee Roaster plans to expand its business in New York City with its fourth location in Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood. The new 1,400-square-feet cafe is scheduled to open in spring 2022 and will be on the ground floor of the building at the corner of York and Jay Streets.
The other New York CityDevoción’slocations are in Williamsburg, Downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan’s Flatiron district. It’s the latest in a series of openings announcements for Dumbo, a neighborhood where restaurants have been hampered not just by lower foot traffic due to the pandemic, but also by ongoing construction projects that can obscure businesses and make the neighborhood harder to navigate for tourists.
Devocion’s opening plans come just months after the closure of neighborhood coffee shop Brooklyn Roasting Company, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October and closed its Dumbo outpost at 45 Washington Street, along with an outpost in Flatiron.
“We are very excited to open in Dumbo,” said Devoción founder an CEO Steven Sutton. “We have always loved the neighborhood and wanted to be a part of the community for a long time. When we were introduced to Front & York, we immediately saw how special and well curated it is. It’s an outstanding location and a perfect opportunity for us to be able to serve our unique coffee to the whole Dumbo community.”
Front & York developers said Devoción will fill a need in the immediate neighborhood for a coffee shop and will be situated along the 30-foot-wide tree-lined sidewalk that is a hallmark of Front & York.
