The Coffee Association of Canada has appointed Robert Carter as its new president. Carter, a restaurant and foodservice expert, succeeds Lesya Balych-Cooper, who is retiring after serving as CAC’s president for almost seven years.

“We’re thrilled to have someone with Robert’s industry knowledge, network and history leading the CAC as it embarks on the next stage of its tree-year strategic plan,” Balych-Cooper said.

Carter is managing partner of Straton Hunter Group where he leads a portfolio of high-growth companies in the foodservice and food-tech industry. Prior to that, for 14 years, he oversaw research development, sales and marketing of CREST market intelligence data for the foodservice industry as executive director at NPD Group.

“I know the Coffee Association of Canada and its members well and my team at Straton Hunter are thrilled to be involved with the association and for me to take on this role,” Carter said.

Headquartered in Toronto, the Coffee Association of Canada is a national not-for-profit organization representing the majority of the coffee industry in Canada.

Members comprise importers, roasters, food service retail and grocery, packaging and allied businesses.
