Born in 1937 in Sicily, he had lived for over forty years in Vancouver, Canada, from where he contributed to spreading the culture of coffee throughout North America, traveling the world and consolidating a strong bond with the entire supply chain. Coffee was his life and, as he often liked to say, “Coffee was in his DNA” .

Unmistakable with his Borsalino on his head - in a recent interview he declared that he preferred this type of hat because first and foremost it is an Italian symbol and because it went well with his personality - Gianni Cassatini presided over the world barista championships for twelve years , many coffee festivals and an infinite number of trade fair events , in which he always managed to make himself appreciated and loved by the operators in the sector, but above all by the many baristas and competitors with whom he interfaced and who he considered true friends.

“We are lost a great person” – said President Nando Ottavi of Simonelli Group“ who, with his extreme kindness and generosity, was always ready to provide support to those who needed it. Also thanks to his collaboration we were able to begin our mission as coffee ambassadors in the world many years ago and subsequently he always remained alongside us in the internationalization work of our two brands, Nuova Simonelli and Victoria Arduino ” .

“Despite his age – recalls CEO Marco Feliziani, Simonelli Group – he was the youngest and most playful of all; he is the last to go to sleep, but always the first to get up to work. He leaves us as a legacy his great passion for coffee, not only as a product, but above all as a community" .
